    Note

If you place your raw texture(jpg/png/etc in the materials directory of the game you want it, then when you open vtfedit you just need to give it a name and hit "save", and when you create the vmt it will automatically have the right path (i delete the raw texture afterawards in the materials directory afterwards)

3kliksphilip: do you have a "part II" that covers trancelucent and reflectivity and bumpmaps and such, or would those be more ps tutorials?

There is an easier way to save the texture all you need to do just save in directory where you want (has to be in game/matirials) it creates a .vmt file but with directory written in it so you dont need to change anything.

Correct me if i'm wrong but if you don't make a vmt as well it will use a generic material surface that may not be the one you want.

You still have to enable "Auto create VMT file" Then you just save it in cstrike(tf2,csgo)/materials/(custom folder is optional) and in VMT file the VTF directory will be written so no need to write VTF directory manually.
